Your urgent action is needed to establish an animal abuser registry in Arizona!
On March 2, Arizona Rep. Steve Farley introduced an amendment to HB 2780 that would expressly allow for contributions to support a statewide animal abuser registry, and the Animal Legal Defense Fund has committed to give the state $10,000 to assist with the startup costs associated with the registry.
Designed to keep convicted abusers away from animals, the bill would require counties to report those convicted of felony or high misdemeanor animal abuse to a statewide database. “The Farley Amendment to HB 2780” would expressly allow for contributions to support the animal abuser registry which, combined with the lead contribution from the Animal Legal Defense Fund, would allow for establishing a registry without cost to taxpayers.
Such registries will help protect animals, pet guardians, and communities by preventing repeat offenses from anyone with an established history of abusing animals.
Keep Arizona’s communities and animals safe! Contact your state legislators today and urge them to support the Farley Amendment to HB 2780.
