Urge Prosecutor to File Felony Charges in Global Captive Breeders Case!

PETA’s undercover investigation of Global Captive Breeders, LLC (GCB), in late 2012 documented that some of the company’s workers, including its manager—and generally with the full knowledge of its owner, Mitch Behm—neglected thousands of animals, many of them to death, and cruelly killed countless more.

The facility, which reeked of death, decay, and ammonia from accumulated urine and feces, housed more than 18,000 rats and approximately 600 reptiles, including snakes, monitor lizards, skinks, tokay geckos, and sulcatta tortoises, with just two full-time staffers and one part-time helper as of mid-December.

Based on PETA’s evidence, law-enforcement officials entered GCB on December 12 and mounted the largest rescue of neglected rats in U.S. history. All the animals were removed from Behm’s custody!

We need your help now to ensure justice for GCB’s victims.

In mid-December of 2012, PETA turned over detailed evidence of cruelty to animals at GCB—documented during the undercover investigation—to Riverside County District Attorney Paul Zellerbach’s office. A few weeks later, Zellerbach’s office was also supplied with additional compelling evidence—including veterinary expert reports, video footage and photos obtained during the seizure by humane officers, and more—of cruelty-to-animals violations at GCB.

Please politely urge Zellerbach to file criminal charges against all appropriate parties without further delay.
