2016 was #TheYearOfVegan, and since Australians are leading the world with our appetite for a cruelty-free lifestyle, there was stiff competition this year for the title of PETA’s Sexiest Vegan Celebrities.
In selecting the worthy winners, PETA’s judges looked for the quality that most oozes sexiness: a compassionate heart. And there were two Aussies who led the pack with their advocacy for animals.
Meet PETA’s Sexiest Vegan Celebrities of 2016: David Campbell and Morgan Mitchell!
Today Extra and Smooth FM host David Campbell exemplifies plant power when he lights up our television screens each morning. He credits his vegan lifestyle, in part, with his dramatic weight loss this year.
“I feel 100% better being a Vegan. I am ethically doing the right thing for animals, the planet and our children”, he wrote on Instagram.
Watch this. Food for thought. I feel 100% better being a Vegan. I am ethically doing the right thing for animals, the planet and our children #vegan #veganfood #plantbased #climatechange #animalrights

Throughout 2016, he has used his platform as a TV personality to speak out against cruelty in the greyhound-racing industry:

And more recently, he has condemned violence against native wildlife. Talking of the now infamous incident in which a kangaroo was punched by a hunter, he called for the perpetrator to be sacked from his job as a zookeeper and said,
“Being an animal lover, I think it’s kind of awful to watch”.
He also regularly advocates for animals and promotes vegan eating on Twitter:

Morgan Mitchell sprinted her way into our hearts when it was announced she would represent Australia at this year’s Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Living proof that plant-based eating can power you to the highest peak of fitness, Morgan explained back in May,
“I have been vegan for a year and a half. That’s really helped with everything: energy, health, the environment”.

Unbeaten in the women’s 400-metre race during the 2016 season – having won all 12 races to take the national title and secure her place at the Olympic Games – this talented sprinter from Melbourne was happy to report that being plant-powered has helped give her a competitive edge.
Watch as she discusses her decision to stop eating animals and notes,
“I decided to educate those that were against the plant-based diet. … I’m definitely getting enough protein and iron required to attain my goals. […] I guess it just came down to the fact that I didn’t want to put my career before anyone’s life”.
