Unfortunately, legislative delays and contention around potential loopholes have prevented Australia from joining the likes of the European Union, New Zealand, and Israel in banning the sale of cosmetics that have been tested on animals. Luckily, companies such as David Jones are leading the charge in creating demand for alternative testing methods so that animals no longer have to endure agony in laboratories, where chemicals are dripped into their eyes just to produce mascara or shampoo.
