Vegan pizza has come a long way! Thanks to the availability
of meltable nondairy cheeses and tasty faux-meat products, more and more
pizzerias across the nation are expanding their menus to include mouthwatering vegan pizzas.

It was a tough job, but we’ve selected 11 restaurants from across
the United States to battle for bragging rights and the chance to say, “We have the best vegan pizza!

  • zpizza (Locations
    Nationwide): Berkeley Vegan (marinara sauce,
    vegan cheese, veggie burger crumbles, zucchini, and tomatoes)
  • Red Dog Saloon in Norfolk, Virginia: Vegan Buffalo “Chicken” (spicy Buffalo-style sauce, vegan
    cheese, Gardein chicken strips, spinach, olives, sun-dried tomatoes, and pepperoncini)
  • Pizza
     in Seattle: White Lightning (white
    garlic sauce, artichokes, grilled onions, mushrooms, and potatoes)
  • Palà
    in New York: Funghi e Salsiccia (veggie sausage, field mushrooms, Daiya cheese,
    and hot peppers)
  • VegiTerranean in Akron, Ohio: Chrissie’s Choice (wild mushrooms and VegiTerranean’s own
    basil pesto)
  • Ian’s Pizza in Chicago: Vegan By-the-Slice Thursdays
    (fresh veggies, Chicago Soydairy’s Teese, and Upton’s Naturals seitan meats)
  • 3 Brothers Pizza Café in Rockville Centre, New York: Seitan Bacon Ranch (grilled seitan, tempeh bacon,
    tomatoes, and Daiya mozzarella drizzled with vegan ranch)
  • Village Pizza in Atlanta: Village Vegan Deluxe
    (mushrooms, onion, green pepper, black olives, soy
    meats, and soy cheese)
  • Patxi’s Chicago Pizza in San
    Francisco: Vegan Deep Dish (spinach, crushed garlic, red onion, and Daiya vegan
    cheese on a whole wheat crust)
  • Pizza Lucé in Minneapolis: The
    Vegan Rustler (marinated mock duck, pineapple, banana peppers, red onion, Daiya
    cheese, and BBQ/red sauce)
  • Peace o’ Pie in Boston: The Neapolitan (fresh
    basil, tomato slices, and organic tofu ricotta)

Complete the form below by March 15, 2011, to help PETA select the restaurant
with the best vegan pizza. If your favorite vegan pizza place isn’t listed, be
sure to write it in! The winner and two runners-up will be determined by consideration in equal parts of public vote and PETA staff preferences. Be sure to check back on March 22, 2011, to see if
your favorite was selected.
