Kind people often appear where and when you least expect them.
Our animal welfare technician was driving his regular community outreach route with our mobile unit in rural Mexico when he suddenly heard a familiar noise coming from an empty lot.
He parked and found a litter of puppies playing in the garbage, with a friendly mother dog close by.
We asked around to see if the mother dog had a guardian, but no such person could be found.
However, the owner of the car shop in front of the empty lot told us that he could take care of the puppies and mother dog, as there were already three dogs living on the car shop property anyway.
Watch this video to see how we transformed this canine family’s life with the help of a kind car shop owner and star volunteer Kelly Whittemore.
This shows how community engagement can improve the welfare of un-owned dogs with an uncertain future.
